With the festive season nearly over we have been working hard to bring you something new!
Restaurant Refurb incoming January 2024!
We’ve kept it under wraps for as long as possible and long enough for you all to enjoy the festive period in The Morning Star you know and love, but things are about to get a change and coming is an EXCITING NEW LOOK RESTAURANT!. We have been working closely with the team at O Donnell O Neill Design who are a dynamic and creative Interior Architecture and Design Studio who specialise in experiential and atmospheric Interior Design Solutions for the Hospitality Industry.
The team to carry out the work are CM Fit-Out, a construction & joinery fit-out specialist team based in Larne. They bring together a collective experience of over 20 decades within the industry, with a team of skilled specialists who will begin the work in January 2023.
Our plan is to preserve and showcase the most iconic parts of our Victorian award-winning restaurant with a mix of leather booths and wooden tables, dark wooden panelling and reclaimed wooden features. “This place has been our home for over 30 years and we are proud to breathe new life into our historic building and give it a new purpose.”
From a long-standing farming and food-obsessed family, the McAlister’s have owned and run The Morning Star for over 30 years. Now brother & sister at the reins, for James and Peita the focus is still the same. Keep it simple with the best quality local offerings, specialising in grass-fed beef & lamb, sustainable seafood and Irish Whiskey. We believe that supporting sustainable farming, buying from independent farmers, and animal welfare is not just the right thing to do it is the secret to great tasting food!
We are into the last two weeks of the restaurant as people know it so we think you should get down and see it one last time!
We will be closed upstairs for a couple of weeks but don’t worry we will have a full food menu available to order downstairs while the work takes place!We will keep you all updated with our progress, wishing you all the best for the New Year! The Morning Star

I read the article about the weekend weather for October 20th on ODG, and it gives a good sense of autumn conditions in the Lake District. Great interview, but if I'm being honest felt more like 'why I'm still a Calvinist' than 'Christian'. I respect that Kristen's faith tradition is important to her, and she can obviously share to the level she feels comfortable with and no more, but this was a very intellectual conversation. I'd have appreciated hearing more about Kristen's personal faith in Jesus Himself and why that is not shaken despite the attacks she's endured. mens racer jacket
