Dish of the day - Guinness Wheaten Bread

Served with our seafood chowder, we often have customers wanting to take a whole loaf home



  • 1 cup quick cooking oats not instant, plus more for sprinkling

  • 2 ¼ cups whole wheat flour

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 pint Guinness

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter melted, plus more for the pan

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
